March Club Meeting Speaker

John Stacy
I’m a Texas Master Naturalist with over a decade monitoring local conservation preserves. This is a volunteer activity with the Bayou Land Conservancy, a local non-profit land trust,  protecting over 14,000 acres for flood control, wildlife, and water quality. I also lead a trail crew of sixty volunteers who built and maintain the Spring Creek Nature Trail. This is an unpaved wilderness trail system over fifteen miles in length with twenty-eight bridges and boardwalks.

I’ll be presenting a short program discussing some of the plants and animals common to our area. It’s not possible to cover everything, but I’ll try to answer any questions.

Who We Are..

We are a collection of photographers and would-be photographers from the lake houston area near Houston, Texas. We are of different ages, demographics, and abilities, but share one common theme; we love photography as an art and wish to share that love with our neighbors.

Our Mission is to promote the art of photography in our community, and educate, inspire and motivate our neighbors to become better photographers.

We accomplish our mission by (a) holding monthly meetings (Normally the 3rd tuesday, 6:30pm, First Baptist church, 3500 Woodland hills, check our events calendar to confirm), (b) Conducting regular free public workshops, and (c) assisting various lake houston area organizations with their photographic needs.  We also arrange periodic local and out-of-town photographic field trips.

November Meeting Topic – Protecting your files is as easy as 1-2-3

As photographers we all have the same nightmare in the back of our minds.  Something happens to all those precious pictures we’ve taken over the years and we can’t recover them, or we go on a trip, take a lot of pictures only to get home and find the memory card in the camera got corrupted and we loose those images.  There are hundreds of scenarios, and all of them have happened to several of us, and will happen to you unless you have a plan to protect your files.

Our speaker this month is Ross Davis from Kingwood PC repair, located in Town Center.  Ross will take us through the ins and outs of protecting our files, both on the road and in our homes and offices.

Ross, graduated from Humble High School, and has a  BBA in Finance from University of Houston.  He is married to his high school sweetheart Nicole and has two kids and two dogs.  His business, Kingwood PC Repair is now celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year and carries a A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

What is Share and Learn?

We conduct a “share and learn” session at each of our meetings where members bring in photos they’ve shot.  In order to provide some incentive for our members to get out and use their cameras, as well as encourage some learning we issue a monthly photo assignment to serve as the subject for the Share and Learn.  While it is not strictly required to follow the assignment, members are encouraged to do so.
