This will definitely be a provocative workshop. It should make you think about why you take pictures and what you are trying to achieve. You may end up with more questions than answers but hopefully you will begin grappling with how to make different photographs that matter. How you make images that express your voice
Everything that should be in focus is… f/stop check, shutter speed, check. The subjects are well lit…the color balance is spot on. You got that great shot of the Andromeda galaxy…but wait…did you create art, or did you just demonstrate your ability to handle complex gear? Will a new camera make more meaningful pictures?
What else can you ask for from you photography? Can you explain why some of your own images resonate with you and some are merely nice? This workshop is about going beyond using your camera to capture a technically perfect image. It’s about making an emotional impact on the viewer. Making the viewer take a second look, and then linger a little longer to explore the image. What is art? Is photography art or science? Let’s talk about how the viewer sees your image, light, composition, subject, texture, shapes, lines. Let’s talk about intentionality and purpose in photography.
