The annual sandcastle competition at East End Beach in Galveston is no casual day at the beach. Â Contestants plan for months on their designs and assign duties to team members, and on the day of the event have only five hours to create their masterpiece, all to compete for the prestigious Golden Bucket Award. Â
The contest takes place on Saturday, Aug 21. Â On Sunday, Aug. 22 the public can stroll through the finished sand castles, admire the work and TAKE PHOTOS. Â
We will meet at the Kingwood Baptist Church  at 8 a.m. to form carpools.  Entry to the contest is free, but it costs $15 (cash only) to park.  We should be able to leave before the afternoon sun begins to sere. Â
