Members – Did you Know (11)

Eleventh DYK .. if you’re a member and this isn’t getting you super excited, I can’t imagine what would! I’m thinking of making a full length movie out of these.

Did you know– as a member you are able to share some of your pictures each month with the other members. Every month our illustrious club president picks a theme and you’re invited to upload three images to be shown at the monthly meeting. The session is called share and LEARN. When your time comes to share you can say whatever you want about your images especially if it includes information others might find illuminating. Keep it “G” rated.

To upload your share and learn images use either the link on the Monday morning email or sign into the website where you should see a link on the welcome page.

Now I know that you don’t know this one. I’ve been managing our website for about ten years and I’ve only seen this done a couple of times. What is this mysterious member benefit that so few are taking advantage of?

Did you know – As a member, if you sign in, you can comment on posts! Yes, that feature exists and would allow you to stand out among this membership group by being one of the very few who have tried this… and who doesn’t want to stand out!

To comment on a post you first have to “isolate” the post on its own page. If the post is in the News section, for example, you can click on the post title and it will appear on its own page. Scroll to the page bottom and you’ll see a box to comment. Say something nice. Remember the sage words of the baby goose, “What would mother say?”

Posts you click on from the list of recent posts on the front page also appear isolated on their own page.

.Looking forward to see if we have any takers.

Q&A Follow-up with Dave Clements / October Program Speaker

After Dave left the meeting on Tuesday, October 15, I received a few questions from our members for him. I reached out to Dave:

1) Are you going to be shooting the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans?

2) What is the general lead time given to you by the wire service that hired you?

3) Never going mirrorless?  Why not?

Below are Dave’s answers in bold:

1) Are you going to be shooting the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans?

I was set to shoot in Tampa Bay and Covid hit and that changed everything….sadly. I had a good run…four was fun.  Another would be good but unlikely….you just wait to see if someone calls!

2) What is the general lead time given to you by the wire service that hired you?

The lead time was about four months as I recall.

3) Never going mirrorless?  Why not?

Regarding mirrorless….nothing against it ….I just have really good equipment that gives me the type of images that I want and/or need and can’t justify a reinvestment at my age.

And he added, thanks for having me!

Our continuing DYK series could go on forever. There are so many excellent benefits to becoming a member.

Did you know – we have a lunch group that meets on the Wednesday a week before our monthly club meeting. We meet at various local eateries to solve the problems plaguing humanity. The fact that we haven’t succeeded to solve any makes us only more determined to keep having lunch.

As a member you can request to be put on our lunch bunch mailing list. Admin@kwphotoclub.com

October 15th Monthly Meeting – Share and Learn

It’s that time of the month that we need your Share and Learn photos! This month’s assignment is “Members Choice”! As of today, Chris Summers is the only member to upload his photos. Please join Chris and upload your favorite photos!

The attached photo was taken in Yellowstone on the Club’s winter trip in 2017. That snow was so light I fell right through it several times. Wonderful experience to see Yellowstone in the winter.

I will not be at the meeting (hoping to Zoom in) so the photos will be displayed from the Dropbox. To be certain they are included please have them uploaded by 5 pm. Everyone should have a Zoom link to the meeting as Chuck sends the same one out each month. Save it on your desktop or in your monthly calendar with a recurring monthly meeting.

Our speaker, Dave Clements, will be in person! He has addressed our club before and is always entertaining, Plus he will be selling books of his photography to support the International Rett Syndrome Foundation.

Hope we have a few Northern Lights photos uploaded from Thursday’s G5 storm. They have been all over the internet. Looking forward to seeing your favorite photos!
